Paula Martinac receives two grants

Creative Writing instructor Paula Martinac was recently awarded the 2023 William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grant for an unpublished traditional mystery novel. This grant comes with a cash prize that will fund her attendance at the Malice Domestic conference in Bethesda, MD, April 28-30. Malice Domestic is an organization that supports the writing and reading of traditional mysteries in the style of Agatha Christie; they also oversee the Agatha Awards, one of the top awards for mystery writers. Martinac received this grant based on the first three chapters of her novel A Death on the Mezzanine, a historical mystery set in Pittsburgh during World War I.
Martinac was also recently awarded a Historical Novel Society Diversity Grant.
